PHA Polyhydroxy Acid

If you'd like a quick read about AHAs, BHAs and PHAs click on The Acid Trinity.

Remember:

PHA [ Polyhydroxy Acid ] is much more gentle on the skin the the other two acids of the Trinity which is why if you have either sensitive or dry skin, this [ PHA ] might be the right one for you. Mainly it causes far less irritation due it's larger molecular size, it doesn't penetrate deep into the skin and focuses on the skin's surface instead.

What you need to know:

  • Perfect addition to your skincare routine as it's a slow releasing Acid giving your skin the time to get used to it.

  • The slow release process makes it suitable for All skin types, even sensitive.

Often you'll see it as:

Gluconolactone

A good friend if you're part of the dry skin clan, this one will form a protective barrier on your skin helping it to lock in moisture. Extra points because it has a similar functionalities to antioxidants [ and who wouldn't want antioxidants in their routine anyways right? ]

Lactobionic Acid

A just barely there exfoliant that does the job without causing irritation. Promotes skin cell turnover as it works to buff out dead skin cells on the outermost layers. As if this wasn't good enough, this one is also a humectant that attracts and retains water [ like our friends Hyaluronic Acid and Polyglutamic Acid! ]

The takeaway

PHA [ Polyhydroxy Acid ] is a great choice for anyone looking to get a daily dose of mild exfoliation without skin irritation. It will help promote skin cell turnover and leave your skin with a healthy glow without compromising the skin's barrier. It's so gentle that even the most sensitive skin types can benefit from this.
